Don't let the rough exterior fool you - it's all part of the charm of this gorgeous dive (said with the most love and meant as the highest compliment) bar. The owner Roxanne slings drinks behind the bar that many brings many of the locals in. Their happy hour is nothing to scoff at either, where else can you find a 3 draft? It's a beloved place where people come in and know each other by name. The drinks are stiff and the interior is gorgeous art deco. The Warfield is right across the street, a prime music/concert venue. Roxanne can give you the history of the place - the building itself is from the 1900s - and has a strong claim to be one of the oldest gay bars in SF (but don't take my word for it). The neon was commissioned (not to give it away) to look authentic and it does. They have bands and DJs, and karaokes on Tuesday nights. Take a deep breath, think of how thirsty you are, and lean into it: the rumpus room awaits.

"This is my kind of place", declared one of our party. We all heartily agree with the sentiment, but remain divided in the best thing about the Rumous Room. Was it the photo booth, or perhaps the 70's acid blues that provided the soundtrack to our confab. The sprinkling of friendly locals, and knowledgeable bartender who put us at ease and concocted the perfect Paper Plane. Different strokes, something for everyone. Pour moi? The spiral staircase leading to inky heights.

Hey, it's a Dive Bar on 6th St. Just off Market St. keep that in mind. In other words it's a Great place for what it is and has always been. Don't expect to be awed by decor or drink menu. Do expect reasonably priced drinks served in a friendly an hospitable manner, without pretense or pressure. Joey (door guy) and Heather (Bartender) were both affable and attentive without feeling overbearing. They were great. Saying anything good about the environment just outside the door would be contrived. But, somehow once inside the Bar the depressing outside circumstances are for a time miles away. So... If you find yourself in the neighborhood and want a good drink. Pop on in and Enjoy.

Fun little bar. Oldie music with a disco feel. Upper and lower levels. Nice and clean with good views.

The bartenders are cool people. The drinks are affordable. This is a good spot to swing by after work.
